Kenya is considered one of Africa's most tourism-active countries. Often used as the port for nearby countries, Kenya's coastal part is attractive enough for visitors.It is recommended that the visitors should consult their nearest Kenyan Embassy for updated information regarding visas.

Here is just an attempt to put forward some basic guidelines, especially to the people on their first visit to Mombasa, or the land of Kenya.

ID : citizens of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya can travel freely between their nations; they have to carry their national identification cards.

Visa is not required for holders of diplomatic or service category passports of Brazil, China, Cuba, Israel, Iran, and Turkey, nor holders of diplomatic passports of India.

E-Visa

Kenya introduced an e-Visa system in 2015. As per the government's rules, an application should be submitted at least seven days in advance, and visitors can stay for up to 90 days with an e-Visa. For the latest information, please visit the official website of the Kenya Government.

Types of visas for Kenya:

Single Entry Visa:
Issued for single entry to persons whose nationalities require a visa to enter Kenya for business, tourism or medical reasons.

Transit Visa:
Issued for travellers connecting through Kenya to other destinations for a period up to 72 hours.

Courtesy Entry Visa:
Issued to Diplomatic, Official and Service passport holders on official duties.

East African Tourist Visa:
A joint tourist visa issued for citizens of Rwanda, Uganda for tourism.

Multiple Entry Visa:
Issued for frequent travellers to Kenya for business, tourism, medical reasons.

5yr Multiple Entry Visa:
Issued to the USA citizens to enter Kenya for business or tourism.

Visa Requirements:

Basic Requirements:
• Valid travel document not less than six months.
• A Return ticket
• Passport biodata page
• A photograph

For Business Visits:
• Invitation Letters from the company
• Copies of registration of the company
• Return air ticket

For Family:
• Invitation Letters from family.
• Identity card / Passport
• Return air ticket

For Tourists:
• Travel itinerary
• Hotel bookings
• Return air ticket
